A time in history when life was hard and people were very poor. According to the article written in 2008 The middle ages western reserve public media, the middle ages were from 476A.D to 1450A.D. The article stated that the middle ages were called the dark ages because, the great civilization of Rome and Greece had been conquered. Because so many people were poor most owed a debt to someone of higher power. The person of higher power would let the person who owed the debt work and live on their land, and let them work in their homes, until the debt that was owed was paid off. The poor people were forced to pay high taxes on the land and it was made very hard to pay off the debt, but would be offered protection. Music and art were important and influenced mostly by the church. People would sing with and without instruments.
